This trip includes interesting attractions in the Bolivian highlands starting and ending in La Paz city: Uyuni salt flats, “Jayu kota” Crater Fish island. The itinerary and timing has been designed to enjoy all these places avoiding crowds as much as possible following an optimal route.
In this trip we’ll avoid the crowds and actually places like the “jayu kota” Crater or fish Island are not frequently visited by many people due the route of most of the tours offerd at Uyuni, actually the tour goes in the opposite direction to what most of the tours perform, so even the places that are very well visited will be almost only for us.

SHORT ITINERARY
Day 1 .- Drive to Salinas De Garci mendoza Via Oruro / Quillacas
Day 2 .- Drive to Uyuni, visit the Fish Island, Pia Pia island and Colchani
Day 3 .- Visit the train graveyard, and drive to La Paz

ITINERARY
Day 1
We start our journey from La Paz and drive all the way passing Oruro to Quillacas all on paved road, we’ll continue to see the cráter of extinct volcano known as “Jayu Kota”, on the way we’ll see the amazing scenery of this part of the Andes, we’ll start seeing for example pieces of the explotions of the volcanos in the área such as Tunupa, we’ll arrive to Salinas de Garci Mendoza a small village on the slopes of this volcano.

Day 2
We start this day early to visit the arqueological site of Alcaya an Aymara settlement, where we can see some Aymara mommies in one of the best preserved places on the high plateau due it’s hidden location, we continue in order to have more time exploring the salt flats as much as we can, in the way we’ll stop to see the shores of the Salar, where we could see flamingoes, little by little the landscape will change and turn into a White salt plain (the biggest on the world), we’ll aim first to visit the fish island an island full of cacti, some of them are more than 300 years old, on the way we’ll search for a good spot to take a lot of pictures, due the whiteness of the salt dessert the perspective is different so we’ll have some fun taking pictures, one of the highlights today is our lunch location, we’ll have our lunch in the middle of the Salar with no other people around, after lunch we’ll drive to Pia Pia Island, “Pia” means “hole” the reasons is the big cave we can find there after Pia Island we’ll drive to colchani village where we’ll see how the people processes the salt with rudimentary tools, finally we arrive to Uyuni where after a long day you can have a more than deserved rest.

Day 3
Today we start the day visiting the train graveyard, a really unique place where you be on touch with mining Bolivian history, and if you love trains this place is for you, due the fact we’ll see steam trains of the beginnins of the 20th century, when Bolivia use to export Silver using this train track before the coast was taken from us by the Chileans.
After we’ll start our journey to Oruro passing the charming village of Machacamarca where there’s a train museum, (if you want to skip it, we can go straight to Oruro)
Once in Oruro we’ll try to explore a little bit of this small city in order also to stretch our legs, to finally continue to La Paz.
